With 63 golf holes to play at the Sporting Club Berlin Scharmützelsee (now known as Bad Saarow Golf Club), you need to relax and stay a while. The A-ROSA resort is situated in Bad Saarow next to the beautiful Lake Scharmützel and Arnold Palmer laid out the first course here back in 1995 and it’s a cracker and probably the course you’ll want to limber up on first.

Palmer has done little in the way of American styling. You can open your shoulders on front nine where the fairways are wide open and the holes meander pleasantly through the Brandenburg countryside. The front nine really is only a warm up, it’s the back nine that excites the senses. The inward nine has received numerous accolades, including “the most beautiful back nine in Germany.” And who can argue? With fairways carved through the forest, Bad Saarow's Arnold Palmer course is surely the Woburn of Germany?
There are some great holes but none can better the delightful par three 11th which measures 171 metres from the back tees. A creek cuts diagonally across the hole in a confrontational manner and three bunkers guard the tricky green. It’s comes as no surprise to us that this hole has been awarded the honour of “the most beautiful par three in Germany”.
