Bassin Bleu

Golfing visitors to Réunion can play a trio of courses on the island. There's a 9-hole course at Golf du Colorado near La Montagne in the north and two 18-hole courses to the south; Golf Club de Bourbon in the beach resort of Etang Sale les Bains and here at Golf du Bassin Bleu.

Set out in a country club environment with swimming pool and tennis facilities, the Bassin Blue course was constructed at the end of the 1980s, though all tees and greens were renewed in 2007 during a year-long restoration program that also included the rebuilding of fairway and greenside bunkers.

The property sits a little back from the coast at an altitude of over a thousand feet above sea level with fairways overlooking the bathing resort of Saint Gilles. Golfers are advised to make their score on the outward half as the back nine holes play a lot tighter along avenues of eucalyptus trees.
