Founded in 1922, Astbury Golf Club had a 9-hole layout in use until the 1960s, when the purchase of additional land eventually brought nine new holes into operation. Fred Hawtree then remodelled the layout in the mid-1970s to fashion the course that’s in play today.
In the new millennium, Astbury measures 6,261 yards from the back markers, playing to a par of 71, with holes 1,3 and 13 to 18 laid out on the clubhouse side of the Macclesfield Canal and the remaining ten holes set on the other side of this waterway.
The course underwent a major bunker refurbishment in advance of the club’s centenary year celebrations in 2022, the highlight of which was the hosting of the Cheshire County Stroke Play championship.
